Peanut Butter is less than thrilled when Brownie Thyson, known in the fourth grade as “Miss Perfect,” is grouped with her in class – and she is even more annoyed when Brownie then turns up in her dance classes as well! Peanut realizes that even after getting through the December learning unit, she will still be stuck with Miss Perfect showing off her ballerina skills at their dance studio. She is quick to join her dance friends in griping about how Brownie’s sudden presence is going to wreck their routines for the upcoming holiday Jingle Hop at Mulberry Mall.
Peanut is in for a surprise, however, when she goes to Brownie’s house after school to begin work on their class project. She instantly sees that Brownie’s life at home is not perfect at all: there are still moving boxes in sight even though Brownie moved to Mulberry Township eight months ago, and there isn’t even one family photo on display anywhere!
With the encouragement of her best friend, Jelly Sandwich, Peanut does her best to help Brownie open up about what has been going on in her life. She realizes that Brownie needs friends more than anyone could have guessed – but can she convince everyone to stop calling Brownie "Miss Perfect"?
